We are excited to introduce four new members to the VivaCity Smart Junctions team who have joined us over the past month.

Seb Elliott

Seb is joining us as a Business Analyst and will be working on a mix of commercial and technical projects. Seb recently completed an engineering degree at Oxford University with a focus biomedical sciences and machine learning. Having worked for an engineering firm, a management consulting firm, and a number of early-stage startups, he is interested in bridging technical and commercial work at VivaCity. Outside of work, Seb is a keen musician, playing the cello, piano, and bassoon, and occasionally sings.

Hemant Ranvir

Hemant has joined the team as a software engineering, applying his experience in Deep Learning inference speed-up to optimise our technical stack. He has previously worked on Natural Language Processing-based reading comprehension servers and OpenPose plus library improvements. Hemant worked in Japan for the past six year, where he had the chance to explore the country and immerse himself in Japanese culture.

Andy Jackson

Andy joins the Smart Junctions team as a Simulation Researcher and brings with him six years of experience as a traffic control engineer at Transport for London. He has worked on the delivery of major highway modification schemes in Central London, which included building, assessing and analysing traffic simulations. Andy was, also, part of the team which has shaped London’s future traffic management technology on TfL’s Surface Intelligent Traffic Systems programme for the past two years.

Krishna is our newest member into the Reinforcement Learning research team. His academic background is a PhDin Solar Astrophysics, where he worked on ground and space-based image data. After his PhD, Krish worked at the National Physical Laboratory, carrying out research in various sectors, including medical and agricultural imaging. Whilst there, he initiated the ML knowledge group. Following NPL, he moved into the smart city/smart road startup space, working as a data scientist on big data projects for real time vehicle trajectory tracking on highways and fleet management.
