As a topsy-turvy year comes to an end, we’re thrilled to receive a certificate of appreciation from the Transport Technology Forum for our rapid assistance in applying local traffic and cycling data in response to the pandemic. The certificate comes after the Transport Technology Forum’s Covid Data Project won Project of the Year at the 2020 ITS (UK) Awards, and was highly commended at the British Construction Industry Awards.
With immediate and widespread change to travel habits and trends at the start of lockdown, data has, and continues to be, an essential component to the effective management of roadspace and analysing changes in travel modes. The pandemic has witnessed significant shifts in commuting habits, active transportation uptake, public transport use and congestion, and this data provides insights to help councils and transport authorities in their strategic decision making.
The ITS(UK) recently hosted a Fireside Chat with the various parties involved in the Covid-19 data project, and you can read more about the meeting and watch the full video here.
